sandra carpenter, case manager

Sandra was born in Queanbeyan, and lived in Canberra for most of her life, apart from a stint in Lightning Ridge, where she did some opal mining, but never managed to find 'that elusive Black Opal'. She has also lived in Orange, Molong and on the South Coast, and worked on a dairy farm.  Sandra has 5 children and 6 grandchildren, and she loves rugby league and heavy metal music.

At 35, Sandra started full-time study, graduating with an ACT Year 12 certificate. She enjoyed studying so much that she enrolled in youth work studies, graduating in 2006 with a Diploma of Youth Work, Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs, and a Certificate 4 in Community Welfare.  Prior to joining the staff of Canberra Men's Centre, Sandra worked for 4 years in a residential rehabilitation program for young people aged 14-18.
