ralph southwell, counsellor

Ralph is Canberra born and bred, his ancestors having arrived in the district in 1838. He has had a varied career, including periods in the Public Sector in administrative and managerial roles, and has a strong connection to the rural sector after running rural properties which included sheep, cattle, cropping and dairying.
The culmination of Ralph’s varied life experience has been recognition of his capacity to connect with people and offer them meaningful and valued support as they work through their issues. He has developed a particular interest in the areas of grief and loss, and has also become involved in liaising with established men’s groups, in particular the Men’s Shed movement, as a means of dealing with social isolation and associated issues.
Ralph has a Graduate Diploma in Community Counselling from the University of Canberra and also spent some three years as a volunteer counsellor with Lifeline.
